The full fees for each college are different. The cost of education varies between $16,000 and $54,000 per year. Payments are usually made before the start of the first and the second academic year. There are also needs-based scholarships (grants) available for all successful candidates.

Yes. Places are awarded at UWC on the basis of merit and potential, and the initial selection is a ‘needs blind’ process. So we hope that no one is put off from applying for financial reasons. Parents/ guardians of all successful candidates applying for funding assistance must fill out a means-testing form and submit documents confirming their family income. Based on this information the Financial Committee determines an affordable contribution. Scholarships (grants) may cover up to 100% of tuition fees, accommodation and meals for the two-year programme depending on a family’s circumstances.

Scholarships do not cover expenses such as travel, visas, health insurance, and pocket money, normally offset by the students’ parents or guardians. No, the UWC only offers a two-year programme, and you must be present for both years in order to complete it.

Yes, most of the students go home for the summer holidays and also during the winter break. If a student is unable to go home, the school will assist them in making arrangements so that they can stay at school or with a host family during the winter break. This can be arranged at the college once you have been accepted.

In every college there are students from 50-90 different countries. A UWC education emphasises experiential learning. The classroom is only one component of that experience, which extends to life together in a residential setting. By sharing dining rooms, common rooms and bedrooms with students from many different cultures and countries, UWC students have opportunities to learn about and share in an international experience that makes a profound and lifelong change in their understanding of one another. Teachers also live on campus, which means boarders always have access to support and care 24 hours a day.

The IB Diploma is accepted and recognized in most countries, but candidates intent on studying in a particular country must make their own enquiries before applying for or accepting a place at UWC. The colleges do not take responsibility for recognition or lack thereof of the IB Diploma in any particular country. Not all universities in Uzbekistan accept and recognize the IB Diploma. Candidates who intend to study in a particular university must make their own enquiries to find out whether that university accepts IB Diploma or not. More information is available at ibo.org and on the universities’ websites.

Once you are accepted, you will be contacted by the UWC school and they will assist you throughout the visa procedure. Please note that responsibility for visa application process and provision of all necessary documents rests with the candidate’s family; UWC Uzbekistan unfortunately cannot help with applying for a visa.

Recommendations should be completed online by each referee. To do so, in the Task List in your user account select Section C/Section D and complete the application by indicating the name, surname and contact email address of the referee who will provide your reference. After completing the form and pressing Submit, a message containing a link to complete the reference will be sent to the referee’s address within ten minutes. By following this link and entering a password, your referee will receive access to Section C/D for completion.

Yes, you can, but you need to meet the eligibility criteria. When submitting the application, indicate your preferred UWC college. However, the Selection Committee does not guarantee your enrollment to your college of choice.

No. The application is submitted electronically. You will only be required to turn up in person for the final selection stage.

Students who have received official confirmation of enrolment to the College/School can request a certificate (from the College/School) confirming their enrollment to the 2-year IB Diploma program. A notarized translation of this certificate (together with other necessary documents – a list of which can be obtained from your local Military Commissariat's office) will need to be submitted to the Military Commissariat office in order for a decision to be made on your deferment of military duty for the period while you are at UWC. Neither UWC Uzbekistan nor UWC Schools and Colleges are able to guarantee the deferment of compulsory military service in Russia.

Students will have to check with the party offering the scholarship, but, in general, no, scholarships are only valid the year that they are offered. It may be possible to reapply upon completion of the military service, or to defer the military service.
